Care Identity Management ( CIM ) replacing Care Identity Service ( CIS)

NHS England are removing the functionality of Creating New Users and Managing Smartcards in the Care Identity Service (CIS) and fully moving these functions to the new Care Identity Management (CIM).

From the 17th April 2024 you will no longer be able to action the following functions in CIS:

Create New Users
Repair a Smartcard (expired certificates)
Renew Smartcards (certificate renewal
Unlock Smartcards (this moved 31/01/2024)
