Flu Stock Underwriting Scheme – Community Pharmacy August 2023 FINAL (1)

The regional NHSE team fully support and endorse the underwriting schemes for both General Practice and Community Pharmacy, based on the learning from previous seasons and the concerns that have been raised over time on lack of adequate stock levels. We are hopeful that the underwriting arrangement will encourage greater ordering for the eligible cohorts.

The pack includes the principles of the underwriting scheme, the conditions and process; these have been agreed with members of the London region Immunisations and Public Health Commissioning Team and discussed with LPC colleagues. The Scheme ensures consistency in approach for the region, with it sitting alongside a System-delivered underwriting scheme for General Practice, that has been agreed with ICB colleagues and follows the same approach. The General Practice scheme is funded by each ICB.

Further guidance will be provided by the London region Immunisations Commissioning Team on the reimbursement process that is to be followed for the scheme. As outlined in the pack, reimbursement monies will be processed via the Business Services Authority.

We are committed to ensure that there is strong collaboration between General Practice and local Pharmacy services in supporting people to receive their ‘flu vaccinations and in meeting local eligible population needs, so we strongly encourage local discussion and positive engagement with General Practice and Primary Care Networks.
